About Me

"I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become." -Carl Jung

Hi, please call me Amy. I am a lived-experience practitioner (LXP) and qualified Art Psychotherapist.

I trained at the University of Herfordshire from 2010-2012 and since qualifying have worked mostly in Children’s Mental Health Care Services for the NHS and Local Authority. I am also a visiting lecturer for two of the MA Art Therapy programmes in the UK.

It was within my own recovery journey from mental health difficulties that I pursued my professional training. Whilst I have no wish to overshare my journey; I do often draw upon a variety of tools from my own recovery and share these with clients where appropriate.

'LXP stands for Lived Experience Practitioner, and is an umbrella term for someone who works in health care and primarily uses the learning and understanding from their own related health condition to do the work.'
