I have a particular interest in the sensory aspects of art therapy. Having a sensory processing difficulty; my practice surrounds itself in how we can use our 8 senses (Sight/Visual, Sound/Auditory, Touch/Tactile, Taste/Gustatory, Smell/Olfactory, Body Movements/Vestibular System, Body Awareness/Proprioception, Introception) to self-regulate emotions.
Integrating sensory approaches and psychoeducation into Art Therapy sessions, helps people to self-care and self-regulate in ways that work for them, based on their own sensory profile.

Art therapy also naturally has a sensorial element to it through the tactiility of materials. The sounds associated with making things, visual stimulation. Sensory integration can summon interoceptive experiences that can be understood and managed accordingly.
